Nintendo 64!!

I love Christmas gifts just as much as the next person. I don't, however, believe I have seen this type of reaction to any gift that has been given to someone except for this kid..

Turn Your Face Away from the Garish Light of Day!

Ok... So I really have NO idea why, but for some reason the last few weeks I've been on this big Phantom of the Opera music kick. I listen to it at work all the time, and have even caught myself running to it at night... ummm, yep, weird I know!! Anyway, I think it is great music and I can play a handful of the songs on the piano. I came across this YouTube video clip that I thought was drop dead funny a while back. Now we know more about the Phantom...

Enjoy..

The Great Fall

There are many hobbies and interests I have in life. Sports, piano, movies, family, friends, outdoors, etc. One of these interests I have just happens to be longboarding. I became interested in Longboarding a few months before my mission in 2001. After I got home I moved up to Rexburg, Idaho with some buddies and got more into it. I ended up getting my own so that I could get around town and go down some gnarly hills. All my friends including myself had a longboard and we would find some good, wide streets to ride down. One time I was riding down a pretty steep hill (which was way fun), and was coming to a flat road which made me slow down a bit. This lady just happened to have her sprinklers going in her front yard which was making the whole road wet as well. I was riding down this street at a reasonable speed making some quick longboard turns and ended up falling back because of the wet road and landing on my wrist. I thought it was just sprained or bruised or something like that. 8 months later I noticed that it still hurt every time I would play basketball or football. I decided to go get it checked out finally. Next thing I know, I'm having surgery and they're putting a screw in my wrist.

Well, to add to this amazing folly I was up at the cabin in Vivian Park up Provo canyon over Memorial Day weekend. There is a trail that goes from Vivian Park all the way down the canyon. I have ridden this trail many times on my longboard as it's a pretty easy ride and not too steep. It ended up being a ride that, well, also ended up in surgery. I feel dumb admitting that I was riding on a flat surface not going amazingly fast, but I ended up taking a pretty bad spill on that flat surface. I knew immediately that I had broken my right arm. It was some of the worst pain I had ever felt. I had to walk all the way back down the canyon in order to take a visit to the hospital. I was surprised that I didn't black out because I was so dizzy and light headed walking down because of my arm. At first glance from the X-Ray machine it looked like I had a simple radial head fracture since I couldn't even remotely move my arm for an x-ray at the time. Later on that week they took more x-rays and realized that not only was it fractured but that the bone was completely detached from the socket. That might explain why it hurt so bad all that time. My bone had been coming in and out of socket every time I had been moving it. I ended up going into surgery the next day and having 3 screws put in my right elbow. Surprisingly enough, I have not had to take 1 pain pill. I guess once the bone is back where it's supposed to be it ends up feeling a lot better. Not all the way better though, I still have physical therapy to go through which is never fun in the least. Perfect timing for something like this to happen as it's my favorite time of year (summer). Well, hopefully these next few months go well and I'll be back to new. Gotta love longboarding!!!

Fun rides like this down Mesa Falls in Idaho won't be happening ever again. Dang!

We may be in for a surprise!

At the beginning of this NBA season if I would have said that the Denver Nuggets and the Orlando Magic would face each other in the NBA Finals, I would most likely be telling a REALLY funny joke. Depending on what happens tonight, this matchup could easily happen. A few posts prior I showed the new puppet commercial that Nike debuted. The NBA has been campaigning for a Kobe vs. Lebron finals for a long time. I think this picture is very humorous and tells it like it is:

We'll see what happens but we could be in for a definite surprise for this year's Finals. By the way, this entire post was written with only my left hand as I cant move my right arm currently.

Yankees New Stadium

So this season the Yankees unveiled their new Yankee Stadium. It is a landmark in that area and many band wagon fans will most likely make their way over there while on visit in NY. Although, there are some interesting aspects of this new monstrosity of a stadium. This video clip will explain what the hoopla is all about. Sounds like my kind of ball park, huh?

POST SEASON!!!!!

So I'm sure everyone knows my semi-obsession with the NBA let alone the Playoffs, actually let's just get it straight - it's not semi-obsession, it is a real obsession. Since I live in the west and fully support the Jazz, I must have an Eastern conference team that I follow and admire. That would be the Cleveland Cavaliers, not because they had the best record this year, I've actually really liked them ever since Lebron first came into the league out of high school. Every morning I check out a few different NBA rumor/blog websites to catch up on the inside stuff. This morning I came across this hysterical video clip of 2 puppets being Lebron and Kobe. Lebron is super excited for the POST SEASON!! And Kobe just whimpers around as if it's completely commonplace for him. Granted, Kobe has won 3 championships (with Shaq of course, have to throw in that caveat) but Lebron has been to the finals before and I'm sure hoping that the Cavs can take it all the way this year. Before EVERY game, lebron chalks up his hands and throws it up in the air so that everyone knows why is so chalk happy. Here's to you Lebron!!

Lakers for Real??

So it's been a while since I've posted, and I'm going to get better at it. But after yesterday seeing the Lakers fall dead to the much undersized Rockets, I couldn't help but post this picture I saw online. The Rockets big man Yao Ming has recently broke his surgically repaired left foot again and thus will be out for the remainder of the playoffs. Being the Lakers hater that I am, I never thought I'd be cheering for the Houston Rockets. They are actually starting to grow on me. Shane Battier I think would look wonderful in a JAZZ uniform. I don't believe that championship teams are made out what the Lakers are showing right now. They haven't been competing to their full potential and even though they have the talent to win, they need to start proving that they can. As for now, lots of people including me wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets won this series, even without Yao and TMAC.

Enjoy!

Farewell Larry!

Yesterday the owner of the Utah Jazz, Larry Horne Miller passed away from complications with diabetes. He lived 1944-2009 and provided lots of things to the state of Utah. In 1986 he purchased the other half of the team so that they would be able to stay here in Utah. Thanks heavens he did because there have been many good times in Utah Jazz basketball since that time. My favorite years so far (even though they all have been pretty good) were the finals year from 1996-1998. I wish so bad that the Jazz would have been able to pull off a victory and bring a championship to this much deserving town, but that is just something I will appreciate even more when it comes. Thanks Larry for all the memories and for bringing Jazz basketball to the state of Utah!
