font-size: small;">So I used to be a BlackBerry guy, now I have moved over to the new Android phone. I like it, I don't know if I would say I love it yet, though. Maybe it's because I need some better apps? Not sure, but the battery life is very mediocre at best. I have noticed that using a phone to it's full extent during the day does not make the battery last very long. Oh well! So what are some apps that I need to download? Maybe some new games, educational apps, not exactly sure, but something that will help tie me over.
<div style="clear: right; Many people from around the world come here to enhance their knowledge on the digital marketing industry. It's amazing how diverse the digital marketing industry has become with the breakout of new technology including mobile and tablets. Adobe is a great company to work for and the future is very bright for the digital age as more and more people are moving to digital mediums of using and viewing data. I'm a big Twitter nerd and the conveying of information has come to a point where I can get any kind of knowledge at my fingertips with Twitter and not even having to go online. Information appears on Twitter before it even makes it to any website online. After the information gets sent out on Twitter, then the websites get a hold of the information and will then be broadcasted on that front.

Gotta love how the digital age is growing and how we are now embracing new technology and devices. That is how I would like to describe my favorite coach of all time - Coach Sloan. I was 6 years old when he started coaching the Jazz after Frank Layden handed him the reigns. I remember some of the greatest Jazz games I attended and thought he was such a great coach. One thing I really liked about Sloan is that he didn't take nonsense. His players were never allowed to wear headbands. It wasn't his style. He got more out of some players that other coaches never would have. To get as much out of Greg Ostertag as he did is saying a lot because any other coach never would have played him because there is no way he would have been able to produce. At least Sloan got some sort of result out of Tag. Sloan was your blue collar coach. The way you reach the top is you work your butt off. That is the only way to get anywhere in anything is if you work as hard as you can all the time. No matter what happens, no matter what comes up, no matter who is in your way as long as you work as hard as you can and put in the necessary things to make it happen you will be successful. The Utah Jazz would have been just another ho-hum team if it weren't for Sloan. I really hope that Coach Corbin can carry it on and get the most out of his players like Sloan was able to. I have had the opportunity to talk to him on a few different occasions. He looked super harsh on the sideline, but outside of games he was the nicest guy you will ever meet. One time I made it down close enough to the court to talk to him and even get a picture with him. He was always willing to make someones day even if it was taking a picture with them which I'm sure he hated, but at least he knew it would make their day. Great coach, great man, great legacy for the Utah Jazz. The most tenured head coach in any sport (23 years). No other coach will ever surpass that tenure. It is an unbreakable record. Even though he never won NBA Coach of the Year award, I sure hope the NBA gives him some sort of recognition at the end of the season. He will be missed as he is the last link to the great Jazz years of the 90's. Along with him, his sidekick Phil Johnson is on the way out too. What a great assistant coach to have, one that will follow you on the way out instead of sticking around wanting to make millions. Gotta love a coach and his assistant that have done what they did.

Something Not Very Many People Know.....

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; Yes, it's true. Everyone really liked the David Archuletta season and then think that ever since then American Idol has gone down hill especially with the addition of Ellen and then subtraction of Ellen. But this year it is really cool because Steven Tyler from Aerosmith provides some great comic relief. So far, they are into the Hollywood part narrowing down who the top 20 will be. Wow, this sounds super dorky of me to know all of this but I like it. This year they lowered the age limit from 16 to 15 because of the emergence of Justin Bieber as he was 15 when he set out. Last night during Hollywood week - it was Groups!! Pretty interesting how people combine forces to get a good group together. There are a TON of people in the competition who think they are SO good that all they think about is how they will shine in the group, and not the overall success. This is a video from last night, one of the groups combined with ages of 15 and 16 year olds. I thought it was really neat the level of impact they could have being so young. They sang a song by Queen called "Somebody To Love" - which is an epic Queen song and I love it. Here is the video, they are so young that their Mom's are hanging around in the back watching them.. gotta love it.

Super Bowl XLV - Good, Bad, Ugly

Another year, another Super Bowl in the books. Let's break this year's Super Bowl into three categories: Good, Bad, Ugly:

Good:
-Aaron Rodgers - MVP Performance and played like he had been there before (only ran the ball 13 times - impressive!
-Green Bay bringing the game - 4 guys went out with injuries and next man in steps up and playing a vital role
-Commercials

Bad:
-Steelers 2 minute offense - Game was theirs to win. They looked discombobulated and didn't play like they had been there. I was expecting them to go down and win the game but they folded
-Ball protection by Ben Roethlisberger - you can't turn the ball over 2 times (3 with fumble by Mendenhall) and expect to win the game especially when you throw a pick 6
-Halftime show. GREAT show, LOVE the BlackEyed Peas!! Sound was a little off and Fergie didn't really sound good at all. Slash?? Bringing Slash from Guns & Roses out there was kind of weird, but the sound was not up to par.

Ugly:
-400 people with Super Bowl legitimate tickets who were not able to sit in their seats. These seats were deamed "unusable" by the NFL and they were not able to sit in their seats. Granted, they are refunded cost of tickets, though.
-Green Bay's receiver hands - receivers had chance to give Rodgers over 400 yards passing. Catch the ball guys!! You played good, but could have been a great unforgettable Super Bowl performance
-Cameron Diaz feeding A-Rod popcorn! Ha ha, his teammates are not going to let that one go.
-And Finally - Christina Aguilera - just sing the national anthem!! I don't know if any of you noticed, but our friend Christina totally skipped a line of the national anthem before the game. I had no idea and didn't even notice mainly because I was timing it to see how long it was going to take (based on some vegas lines that people set up) - but she totally slaughtered it and forgot a whole line of the song!!

All in all, good Super Bowl, could have been GREAT!! But I will wait for the future (hopefully next year) when my team makes it and it will be a great time!! San Francisco 49ers - Super Bowl XLVI Champions!!!

Oh, yes, i also must mention that my Pregame Super Bowl prediction for this game was VERY VERY VERY close. The outcome was Packers 31-25 - my prediction for this game was 31-27. I feel like I had the football gods on my side with this.. ha ha, not really but pretty good prediction I must say myself!!

After Jazz Dance Party

So last night we went to the Jazz game (Me, Lisa, JD, Katie) - unfortunately the Jazz lost a close one by 1 point with a C.J. Miles last second miss. On the way out of the game we were trying to figure out what that techno song is that they play at the beginning of the BYU games. Come to find out it's called Sandstorm (Thanks JD) - we bust out the song, which can be heard here SandStorm!!!!!. Upon listening to this song in its full splendor, JD's wife, Katie, then leans over and says Brick (there will be a blog post about this nickname of mine soon to come) I dare you to get out in front of ALL these cars and start dancing to this song. At first, I thought she was absolutely kidding. After a few times of this dare talk, I did what I had to do and get outside and start dancing. I got a few car honks and it was pretty epic. Here is the video of this crazy dare and some weird dancing moves:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rw_xV3G1Jw

Super Bowl XXIX

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 160px; height: 152px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/TUhLsGNEeaI/AAAAAAAAAIU/dRMeqSlK5Og/s320/Superbowl_XXIX_logo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568784160195377570" />
Since this week is Super Bowl week, I would like to give an ode to my favorite Super Bowl of all time. SUPER BOWL XXIX (29)!!!! This was the 49ers 5th trip to the Super Bowl and their 5th Super Bowl Victory.... First team in NFL history to reach 5 SB wins. This was kind of the last great season deep into the playoffs that was had with Steve Young, Jerry Rice, and others. Not only that, if you remember, one Deion Sanders was on this historic team as well. Another thing that made this SB historic was that it was the 75th anniversary of the NFL and the 49ers scored 49 points. Steve Young threw for 325 yards at 24/36 completion and 6 touchdowns!! What a great game!! 3 Touchdowns caught by Rice, 2 by Watters, and 1 by Floyd. I remember when I was in middle school this game and how awesome it was. Shortly thereafter, Sports Illustrated came out with a Super Bowl XXIX commemorative VHS tape that I bought and I probably watched it so much that it broke. This Super Bowl was by far my favorite one and I am hoping that in the near future the 49ers can return to their glory and start winning Super Bowls again. I think that Jim Harbaugh is a key component in this and getting him was absolutely huge for the team and their future success. Question remains, who will the quarter back be for the 2011 season? Alex Smith? Troy Smith? Who knows... but please, let me it be someone other than Alex Smith. I have tried so many times to like him and he always fails me. It's like going to a restaurant you have been to before that you hated and saying, "oh this time it will be better, I will get a better menu item", you go into the restaurant and try a 2nd and 3rd time and you are reminded of the fact that it is just as horrible as you remember the first time. Please 49ers do everything you can to come back to glory so I can become an even more dedicated fan!!

Welcome to the Weekend!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 184px; height: 164px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/TUNQeQb-gqI/AAAAAAAAAIM/-lWp9vqHqLU/s320/r%2Bkelly%2Bignition%2Bcd%2B2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5567382045098672802" />
As I (and R. Honestly, I guess I just really never knew how they really worked and their capability. In the last year, I do now have a Mac and let me tell you what...... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! I wish that everybody had a Mac and that this world ran on them. However, since this is not the case and our good buddy Bill must continue to push the market, Windows is still in the realm. Since working at Adobe, i have always used a PC. When I first got the computer it was a brand new Dell Latitude. Good machine, pretty fast I liked it.... so I thought. Then the Mac came, the things you can do on a Mac are just simply amazing and the capabilities that it has are just endless. Ok, putting that out in the open... I just got a new PC machine at work to replace my Dell. It's a Lenovo ThinkPad (formerly IBM). I specifically asked to have Windows 7 installed so that I can try something new. I am not going to lie, Windows 7 has a feel just like that of a Mac. I think Windows and Microsoft is trying to lessen the competition by trying to be a bit more user friendly. Who would have ever thought? In short, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Mac, but this new Windows 7 version is pretty sweet and I am digging it so far.

I will stay loyal to you Mac, see you when I get home!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://scottymackblog.blogspot.com/2011/01/mac-vs-pc.html' title='Mac Vs. The last two days there has been tons of media coverage regarding the SDSU/BYU game on Wednesday in the Marriott Center. Today thousands of BYU Students lined up outside of the Marriott Center to even get a wrist band to enter the game. Today Jimmer was on Pardon The Interruption - a highly rated ESPN show and was interviewed by Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon... great interview by the way - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53JF1MfRoqs

I was also driving down the road earlier today and heard him live on the Brian Kenney show on ESPN Radio - apparently Jimmer sets aside 30 minutes each week solely for national media attention. At tomorrows game there will be 24 professional scouts in attendance. If you told me even a month ago that this game would have received this much hype I probably would have bought a lot more tickets to this because they are more than doubling in price. Hoping that BYU doesn't crash and burn in the national spotlight and can really make a push to be the team that a lot of people think they are and should be. Here's to you Jimmer boy!!! Just bought your jersey today.. and will be wearing it at the game tomorrow.

The World of @Task

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 81px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/TTeDWd4a9UI/AAAAAAAAAH0/ZVDIEY1xXVE/s320/attask-logo.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564060286641173826" />
So here at Adobe my role is that of Business Analyst in Client Services - Consulting. We have recently migrated over 2,500 projects over to a new system called @Task. It's a really neat piece of software to use to manage projects and various tasks that are billable to a client. The old system (and I think this says it all) was ONLY accessible via Internet Explorer 6. This day in age, using IE6 is kind of like watching a VHS for a movie and listening to a cassette tape for music. It is super ancient and NO ONE ever uses it anymore. It was skewing data and not a very intuitive tool to be using as we report that data to clients. I would like to personally thank @Task for their wonderful new solution to our team and company. So far it is great, with every new tool there is a learning curve and that's what I have been dealing with this week I have been the main point of contact for everything @Task related. It has been a good experience to go through the run around of this new system and broaden my horizons with new tools.

This is SUPER boring to a lot of people, but this alone saves TONS of time on our end and will hopefully give me more time for other interests which I will talk about here in another post this week.

Back In Action!!!!!

So it has been, let's see, since September 2009 since I have blogged. What was I thinking. I believe that crazy arm injury that I incurred in the summer of 2009 kind of set me back a bit. Meanwhile, A LOT has happened since the last time I updated this. Let's see, Jazz got a new logo and new colors, BYU has gone independent, I took a trip to Texas to see the BYU/Oklahoma game which was pretty much amazing. Omniture has been acquired by Adobe Systems and now I can officially say that I work for Adobe Systems. We will be building a new campus in Lehi which will open probably fall of 2012 - it is supposed to be amazing! Last summer (since I now have a new hobby besides long boarding) I golfed about 30 times. I went to Sleepy Ridge in Orem a lot, HobbleCreak, Thanksgiving Point, Cedar Ridge, Fox Hollow, Eastbay, Murray Parkway (funny story there). So in a nutshell, here is my post back into the blogging world.

Nintendo 64!!

I love Christmas gifts just as much as the next person. So I really have NO idea why, but for some reason the last few weeks I've been on this big Phantom of the Opera music kick. Sports, piano, movies, family, friends, outdoors, etc. One of these interests I have just happens to be longboarding. I became interested in Longboarding a few months before my mission in 2001. After I got home I moved up to Rexburg, Idaho with some buddies and got more into it. I ended up getting my own so that I could get around town and go down some gnarly hills. All my friends including myself had a longboard and we would find some good, wide streets to ride down. One time I was riding down a pretty steep hill (which was way fun), and was coming to a flat road which made me slow down a bit. This lady just happened to have her sprinklers going in her front yard which was making the whole road wet as well. I was riding down this street at a reasonable speed making some quick longboard turns and ended up falling back because of the wet road and landing on my wrist. I thought it was just sprained or bruised or something like that. 8 months later I noticed that it still hurt every time I would play basketball or football. I decided to go get it checked out finally. Next thing I know, I'm having surgery and they're putting a screw in my wrist.

Well, to add to this amazing folly I was up at the cabin in Vivian Park up Provo canyon over Memorial Day weekend. There is a trail that goes from Vivian Park all the way down the canyon. I have ridden this trail many times on my longboard as it's a pretty easy ride and not too steep. It ended up being a ride that, well, also ended up in surgery. I feel dumb admitting that I was riding on a flat surface not going amazingly fast, but I ended up taking a pretty bad spill on that flat surface. I knew immediately that I had broken my right arm. It was some of the worst pain I had ever felt. I had to walk all the way back down the canyon in order to take a visit to the hospital. I was surprised that I didn't black out because I was so dizzy and light headed walking down because of my arm. At first glance from the X-Ray machine it looked like I had a simple radial head fracture since I couldn't even remotely move my arm for an x-ray at the time. Later on that week they took more x-rays and realized that not only was it fractured but that the bone was completely detached from the socket. That might explain why it hurt so bad all that time. My bone had been coming in and out of socket every time I had been moving it. I ended up going into surgery the next day and having 3 screws put in my right elbow. Surprisingly enough, I have not had to take 1 pain pill. I guess once the bone is back where it's supposed to be it ends up feeling a lot better. Not all the way better though, I still have physical therapy to go through which is never fun in the least. Perfect timing for something like this to happen as it's my favorite time of year (summer). Well, hopefully these next few months go well and I'll be back to new. Gotta love longboarding!!!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SjRSJ9iujwI/AAAAAAAAAG8/UGMOnBzNuKg/s320/Surgery+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346988988688142082" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 162px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SjRSXYh6M2I/AAAAAAAAAHE/6TIZIx1qQzA/s320/Surgery+004.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346989219270767458" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SjRThxUUzrI/AAAAAAAAAHc/YQ6CU5XokMg/s320/surgery+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346990497234996914" />

Fun rides like this down Mesa Falls in Idaho won't be happening ever again. Depending on what happens tonight, this matchup could easily happen. A few posts prior I showed the new puppet commercial that Nike debuted. The NBA has been campaigning for a Kobe vs. Lebron finals for a long time. I think this picture is very humorous and tells it like it is:

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/Sh20A-kNOmI/AAAAAAAAAG0/b0bD1myhHRM/s320/pg2_puppets_300.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340622662019136098" />

We'll see what happens but we could be in for a definite surprise for this year's Finals. By the way, this entire post was written with only my left hand as I cant move my right arm currently.

Yankees New Stadium

So this season the Yankees unveiled their new Yankee Stadium. It is a landmark in that area and many band wagon fans will most likely make their way over there while on visit in NY. Although, there are some interesting aspects of this new monstrosity of a stadium. This video clip will explain what the hoopla is all about. Since I live in the west and fully support the Jazz, I must have an Eastern conference team that I follow and admire. That would be the Cleveland Cavaliers, not because they had the best record this year, I've actually really liked them ever since Lebron first came into the league out of high school. Every morning I check out a few different NBA rumor/blog websites to catch up on the inside stuff. This morning I came across this hysterical video clip of 2 puppets being Lebron and Kobe. Lebron is super excited for the POST SEASON!! And Kobe just whimpers around as if it's completely commonplace for him. Granted, Kobe has won 3 championships (with Shaq of course, have to throw in that caveat) but Lebron has been to the finals before and I'm sure hoping that the Cavs can take it all the way this year. Before EVERY game, lebron chalks up his hands and throws it up in the air so that everyone knows why is so chalk happy. Here's to you Lebron!!

Lakers for Real??

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SgiGRe4vxZI/AAAAAAAAAGk/RaFAG7mcsZk/s320/pg2_rockets_300.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334661393527326098" />
So it's been a while since I've posted, and I'm going to get better at it. But after yesterday seeing the Lakers fall dead to the much undersized Rockets, I couldn't help but post this picture I saw online. The Rockets big man Yao Ming has recently broke his surgically repaired left foot again and thus will be out for the remainder of the playoffs. Being the Lakers hater that I am, I never thought I'd be cheering for the Houston Rockets. They are actually starting to grow on me. Shane Battier I think would look wonderful in a JAZZ uniform. I don't believe that championship teams are made out what the Lakers are showing right now. They haven't been competing to their full potential and even though they have the talent to win, they need to start proving that they can. As for now, lots of people including me wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets won this series, even without Yao and TMAC.

Enjoy!

Farewell Larry!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 318px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SaBaOCn4H0I/AAAAAAAAAGc/vlPxXFDX5Ts/s320/Larry+H.+Miller.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5305339558311239490" />

Yesterday the owner of the Utah Jazz, Larry Horne Miller passed away from complications with diabetes. He lived 1944-2009 and provided lots of things to the state of Utah. In 1986 he purchased the other half of the team so that they would be able to stay here in Utah. Thanks heavens he did because there have been many good times in Utah Jazz basketball since that time. My favorite years so far (even though they all have been pretty good) were the finals year from 1996-1998. I wish so bad that the Jazz would have been able to pull off a victory and bring a championship to this much deserving town, but that is just something I will appreciate even more when it comes. Thanks Larry for all the memories and for bringing Jazz basketball to the state of Utah!

This is JAZZ Town Baby!!!

Last week I had the opportunity to live one of my life long dreams. Meeting the JAZZ! I was able to go around to all the players, get autographs, and pictures with them. Talk about the time of my life!! For me, it really couldn't have gotten any better. Although, I was hoping AK 47 would have been there because I wanted to speak Russian with him, supposedly he had the flu.

Here's a funny story about something that happened. So I was carrying 2 basketballs in my hand that players were signing, 2 posters, and a camera for pictures. When I got to Paul Millsap's table I placed the balls on the table to be signed, and the one in my right hand kind of fell out and knocked over his water bottle that he was drinking from right onto his phone that was sitting on the table. WOOPS!!! ha ha... You could tell he was kind of bugged by that. Instead of signing it with his right hand, he signed it left handed while he was drying his phone off. So I'm not sure if Paul Millsap is too happy with me.

Here are some pics to depict my epic moment:

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SRh6SRRVxUI/AAAAAAAAAFM/rJUozvdE24w/s320/DWILL.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267094218502161730" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SRh6HjQbn7I/AAAAAAAAAFE/qdbjtBNoggY/s320/KORVER.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267094034351628210" />

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SRh6aZlGIcI/AAAAAAAAAFU/ZGoyoXSMUVo/s320/Boozer.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267094358171460034" />

Good times never seemed so good!

So at the beginning of the month some college buddies from BYU-Idaho and I took a trip down to sunny southern California to see one of our heroes Neil Leslie Diamond. Host of the jungle. His radio show is ruthless. This isn't your everday sports radio talk show. Typically people call into a show, share an opinion and it gets discussed on the radio waves. If you want to become a "clone" (a caller into Jim Rome's show), you must have your call rehearsed to a perfection. If it is not a legit call and you have no background or credibility, you will most likely get hung up on. He doesn't take foolishness and doesn't mess around when it comes to being accurate with sports.

Just like any other sports radio host, he has prominent sports figures on his show as interviews. Yesterday, one of our most respected head coaches was on his show. To me, this was big. Why you may ask? How often do you have national BYU coverage? As of late it doesn't seem like BYU has received that much national coverage, let alone as a personal interview on the Jim Rome show.

Let's get to the point.... Bronco simply had one of the best interviews I have ever heard. Usually Rome spends only a few minutes with his guests. He was so intrigued with Bronco and the BYU program that he kept him on a lot longer than anyone else.

Listen to the sound clip and you'll see how poised Bronco is and how great of an interview this is.

Bronco interview in the Jungle

2008 Heisman Watch

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SNJ6R4mLC5I/AAAAAAAAADQ/S8E-BauVAOw/s400/heisman.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247390963508906898" />

What a great way to start out the 2008 NCAA football season than to have one of our own in the Heisman watch already! Every year at the tail end of the college football year the NCAA picks 1 player who they believe exemplifies the qualities of a great team player, has shown success on the field whether it be passing, rushing, solid defensive skills, etc. This year our own Max Hall is currently in the Heisman watch.

Although this prestigious award can be given to anyone in the NCAA who has portrayed these various qualities, it is most often given to an offensive player. Last year Tim Tebow was the recipient of the award for his accomplishment of rushing AND passing for over 20 touchdowns which had never been done before.

Even though we are only 3 games into the football season, Max Hall has already done the following:

-thrown for 12 touchdowns
-over 1,000 yards
-77.8 completion percentage
-186.82 quarterback rating

If these numbers continue to grow at the rate they are, Max Hall could be in serious contention for this amazing award at the end of the season.

ESPN.com updates this Heisman watch every week. Let's hope that Max continues to produce at the rate he has. Here is the link to see other candidates and what others are saying about Money Max. ESPN Heisman Watch

A twist to the BYU/Utah rivalry

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SMgHwnIFRtI/AAAAAAAAADI/HKsvm0OtU_o/s400/byuvsutah.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5244450297790940882" />

Mr. Jack Johnson

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SKX-BJQG2UI/AAAAAAAAAC4/FGv7G9JoPmo/s320/jack+johnson.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234869437504870722" />

I always tell people that if I'm stranded on a desert island and if there was only 1 music album i could have, what would it be. For me, it is hands down "In Between Dreams" by Jack Johnson.

He is coming in concert this Monday and I've been anticipating this for months now. Some of the reasons I like his music so much are mainly because it fits my personality. His music is super laid back and chill. That's how I am. There is no yelling, no vulgarity, no profanity. It's just like sitting in a sandy beach sippin a lemonade.

Pretty much in a nut shell.... The last 2 years have been pretty amazing for BYU. This year, however, many national analysts are picking the cougs to go to the BCS (Bowl Championship Series). This is a big deal because only the top teams in the nation are invited to these bowl games. I can feel that BYU is going to be back on the map with the other powerhouse football teams where they belong. There are only 37 more days until opening kick-off against Northern Iowa. Summer is my favorite time of year, but for 1 reason I hate it. That reason alone is that baseball gets so boring to me after the first few weeks. Who actually sits down in the summer and watches an entire baseball game? I'd rather be outside getting fried in the sun! 37 days until utter joyness and bliss!

Here is a video clip of what BYU football is all about!

4th and 18 anyone? Wasn't that great? Nice defense Utah!! I don't really like to rub things in people's faces, but that is one thing that Kyle Whittingham should be ashamed of. I'm glad he's not our coach! Bronco is the man for our squadron. Always and forever live BYU football!

Rise and shout till the day I die!

Tribute to a legend!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SGljA63tZTI/AAAAAAAAACo/9PNnnLv6ZwE/s400/neil+diamond.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5217810510739498290" />

This is a tribute to a music legend named Neil Leslie Diamond. He is one of the best singer/songwriters of this or any other generation. On Saturday night, I went to a concert at Taylorsville Park of a Neil impersonator. He looked/sounded exactly like our legend friend. What a good time! Neil has sold over 120 million records worldwide throughout his illustrious music career. Many hits such as: Sweet Caroline, America, Cracklin' Rosie, Holly Holy, Hello, Solitary Man, and the list goes on.

He has appeared in films such as: The Jazz Singer, and Saving Silverman. Hopefully soon he will be casted in some other great films. Every 4th of July I create a special music mix. Last year's consisted of about 10-12 songs, this years mix has made its way up to 32 songs. Neil has a few appearances on this great list of All-American ballads.

Let us all remember everything that Mr. Diamond has done throughout his unforgettable tenure as a music prodigy.

Here's to you Neil!

OMNITURE

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SFLFR8KqIKI/AAAAAAAAACg/VcgEa4_v_qc/s400/Project+%231+049.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5211444630820364450" />

So I started working for Omniture on April 7th, 2008. It's an awesome company to work for and is #1 in the Web Analytics industry. People are always asking me what Omniture does and I've tried to explain in a myriad of different ways exactly how. Omniture excels in online business optimization. Basically what that means is helping customers get the best bang for their buck with their website.

Omniture has multiple products that they sell to many websites that help them improve their website layout/interface so that it makes it easier for people like us when we use them. It makes it so we aren't confused with what the company is trying to get across to us on their website. I used to work for a company in Rexburg called JUST SPORTS who was in the process of creating a website. I don't think I've seen a website that should have belonged in the dregs of society more than that company. How do I spell it? Pretty much DESPICABLE! Omniture does a great job retaining customers because the products are so amazing. We have clients such as Ford, Microsoft, eBay, HP, Toyota, MLB, Cadillac, Disney and a ton of others! Those are some big named clients.

I even have my own name plate..  <img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SFLDTZ2WlLI/AAAAAAAAACQ/xwlZ-6FtZhY/s200/Project+%231+045.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5211442456944874674" />

I get to chill in my cubicle and knock out my work while listening to ESPN radio. Their ticker symbol is OMTR.. I had to put this video on here. Probably one of the funniest I've seen. 7 year old kids these days, who would have thought they can turn out like this? My goal in life is to be a hoodrat and do hoodrat stuff with my friends. If I can accomplish that, I have made it. What been going on with the SUDDEN increase in gas prices? Soon we will all be riding out bikes everywhere. This is something that every American hopes can be answered sooner rather than later. Me being one of them. Who do we blame for this increase in ridiculousness? Bush? OPEC? Economy? War? There are many factors that go into it. As a concerned American I just hope that this trend will start to not only even out, but decline. We deserve it, right? I mean, don't get me wrong, I would love to ride my bike everywhere if it meant being no where on time and it would get me into great shape as well.

Something that congress has thought about doing is to tax the oil companies. This is interesting... According to political figure Ben Stein, this is not a good idea. He states the following, "If you start taxing the oil companies, what you are really doing is taxes the pension funds and the individuals who have stock in the oil companies and cutting down on their ability to retire. What you are really doing is saying to the 50% or so of the stock owners of oil companies who are retirees, look, you are not going to get your dividends anymore, you are not going to get your capital gains anymore, and for no if you were. It will not increase oil production. When I saw Obama say we're going to to get more oil production we're going to put a windfall profits tax on the oil companies, I thought, this guy is dumber than Jimmy Carter. I mean, what is he talking about?"

I guess we just need to play the dreadful waiting game and see what happens to these prices. We can only hope the take a nose dive to the ground.

Ode to Griffey

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rH9uRIsVFzw/SE7sCDrvEZI/AAAAAAAAABw/X5gyO3uG4gU/s400/griffey.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210361339006882194" />

While thinking about what I could post today, I came across a great cartoon picture. Many may not know who Ken Griffey Jr. is but over the years his legacy in baseball has become that of a true hall of fame player. While we could talk steroid scandals all day, Mr. Griffey is one player that has stayed true to himself his whole career and steered clear of human growth hormones (HGH). Last night he hit his 600th career home run. This is a very elite club shared only by 6 other players in MLB history: Babe Ruth, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Willey Mayes, and Mark McGuire. Griffey is now the 7th.

He could have possibly become the best player in baseball history had he not been barred by injury in his career. Here's to you Kenny! Congrats with the marvelous achievement.

MALIBU!

This youtube clip is priceless. This American Gladiators warrior, Malibu, is a true hero. He gets kicked off of the stand and still lives to see another day. I think that in life, if we can take his example of courage and implement it into our lives, we too can be healed by Mother Nature. Whenever we get kicked to the ground by anything in our lives we just need to get right back up and face what is going to be ahead of us. Be it a kick to the face like Malibu experienced or punch in the stomach we need to counter react with the appropriate heroic moves. I hope that this example of heroism will always be in our minds in those special times of need.

NBA Finals!

To start out this new phenomenon of blogging, what better way to start out than with something I love and admire? Sports of course. Last night was the unveiling of the 2008 NBA Finals between the troubled L.A. Lakers and the historic Boston Celtics. This years NBA Playoffs have been very interesting. Despite my UTAH JAZZ not being able to advance through the playoffs as much as I'd liked, they showed me many things.

Kobe Bryant. Many people have their own opinions about him. There are some things that have to be straightened out.
1. Kobe is an amazing player, not quite Michael Jordan, but definitely of emerging greatness.
2. Free throw shooter. Against the Jazz in this year playoffs, Kobe shot 96 free throws. In the next round against the Spurs, he shot 11. Disparity? Thanks David Stern.
3. Rapist? Hmm.. probably. That girl was payed off to drop the court case.
4. At the end of the day, Kobe Bryant is a household name and a great player. I just don't care for the Lakers.

I would love to see the series go to 7 games. If David Stern (Commissioner of the NBA) wanted a Celtics/Lakers finals, then he had better make it a good one. I would even be happy if Bird and Magic came back to play for this series.
